Chess is one of the forms of comprehensive education of children.

Countries that have realized the importance of chess are actively introducing this sport in the field of children's education and upbringing. Chess should enter the life of elementary school as one of the elements of mental culture. We are talking about elementary school, where intellectual education occupies a special place.

The German scientist G. Klaus made the following conclusion: "Exact logical thinking is easier to train through a chess game than using special textbooks for this purpose."⁣⁣

What does teaching chess give children?⁣⁣

  1. Chess is an effective model for the formation of the mechanism of "action in the mind" in a child, which is the most important factor in the development of intelligence.⁣⁣
  2. In a chess game, the children develop the skill of an internal plan of action. Having mastered this skill, the child is able to plan his time, think strategically and achieve his goals.⁣⁣
  3. This contributes to the improvement of such valuable qualities as attentiveness, patience, ingenuity, and flexibility. All those qualities that will be so necessary for a child in the primary grades of a modern school.⁣⁣
  4. Unlike many school disciplines, in chess there are no ready-made answers to all questions. The child learns to correlate thought processes with practical actions, creatively apply the knowledge gained in the classroom, look for non-trivial solutions and create beautiful combinations on the board.⁣⁣
  5. Chess brings up a sense of responsibility in a child for his actions, the ability to coordinate his actions, find and make the right choice.⁣⁣
  6. Teaches a child to think, be attentive, memorize, compare, generalize, anticipate the results of his activities.⁣⁣
  7. In the conditions of the game, children concentrate better and remember more.

In EC "Ilim" the game of chess is included in the main curriculum and in the schedule. Classes are held with children from 4 to 16 years old. (The most optimal age to start learning chess is 4-6 years old. During this period, children easily master everything new.)⁣⁣
